[ON AIR] Various movements met earlier this week to discuss ways of addressing xenophobia and creating jobs in KwaZulu-Natal.

In a joint statement, the organisations called for an immediate end to violence and xenophobic attacks, and urged the South African government, traditional ...leaders, and the business sector to work together to generate employment opportunities.

This follows nearly two weeks of campaigns led by March and March, during which some immigrants were reportedly assaulted, so-called "citizen arrests" were made against individuals alleged to be undocumented, and several shopkeepers closed their businesses out of fear for their safety.

For more on this, @Lulu_Gaboo is joined on the line by Steven Mmindje Kabakilwa, the director of the African Solidarity Campaign.

Do you ...think the commission appointed by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan to investigate the deadly violence following last year's presidential election was able to operate independently and maintain credibility in its findings?
