Cuba's envoy to the United Nations in New York says his country is facing an economic war, as a result of a continued U.S. oil blockade of his country on top of more than 6-decade U.S. embargo on the Caribbean island nation.
Ambassador Ernesto Soberon Guzman explained... that his country had received just one tanker of oil from Russia in the last few weeks, enough to cover just a third of oil consumption in Cuba for one month. He says the humanitarian impact is severe across all sectors from transportation, agriculture to health care and education, amid widespread blackouts that exceed 20 hours per day.

The United States has announced sanctions against former Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila, citing his role in support of the M23 rebel group and the Congo River Alliance.
The U.S. Treasury has cited the M23 armed group in the eastern DRC while charging... the Congo River Alliance with acting as "M23's political-military coalition". The US has accused both entities of fueling political instability and violent conflict in eastern DRC.
In a statement, the U.S. Treasury said President Donald Trump was paving the way for peace in the DRC and had been clear that those who continued to sow instability would be held accountable.

The trial of self-proclaimed Malawian prophet Shepherd Bushiri's co-accused is set to begin in the High Court in Pretoria, South Africa on Monday. This follows a judgment in which the court found no merit in the application brought by Willah Mudolo and five others, to prevent ...the National Prosecuting Authority from charging them with racketeering.
Mudolo is a key co-accused in a six million Dollar fraud, theft and money laundering case involving Bushiri. The case centres on alleged financial misconduct linked to Bushiri's church and a commodities trading platform.
Bushiri and his wife Mary, fled South Africa to Malawi in 2023. Mudolo, his wife Zethu Matshingana-Mudolo and company, Rising Estate, are among the co-accused.

South Africa's Department of International Relations (DIRCO)- has urged citizens, not to take the law into their own hands and work with law enforcement to deal with undocumented immigrants. This comes as protests intensify, with growing calls for action against illegal ...immigration.
Several marches have taken place in various cities around the country in recent weeks, demanding government action. DIRCO spokesperson Chrispin Phiri says where people have suspicions of any type of illegality, they work with law enforcement agencies.
